You are invited to join us for The Winter's Tale on 30th-31st January at The Mission Theatre- Bath

In a fit of unfounded jealousy, Leontes, King of Sicily, convinces himself that his pregnant wife, Hermione, is carrying his best friend’s love child. He orders for the child to be abandoned in a desolate place, Hermione imprisoned and separated from their existing child, Mamillus. Following what appears to be the Queen and Mamillus' tragic deaths, Leontes is grief stricken. After a sixteen-year time jump, the King's now grown up daughter, Perdita, arrives in Sicily. What she discovers about both herself and the past proves the key to the wreckage left by Leontes' rage.

Audiences are invited to watch Shakespeare’s fantasy ‘The Winter’s Tale’ come alive this January, as this universal tale of destruction, loss and redemption is brought to The Mission Theatre. Though perhaps his greatest play of the irrational and inexplicable, this updated reimagining now  transported to 2018 is timeless, yet resonant: a jolting reminder of the untouchability of those in power.

Directed by Eva Hudson and Scott Jerram
